This page is not finished: our registered business name and ABN still have to go in. Everything else on it is accurate.
What happens to your child’s photo
It is used to draw their character and their book, and nothing else. Once the book is made the original photo is deleted from our storage within 24 hours, and within seven days even if the book never finishes. The drawings and the PDF stay in your account for 30 days so you can download them again, then they go too. Nothing is ever used to train an AI model. You can delete all of it sooner, yourself, from My books.
What we collect
One photo of your child. Their first name and age, which set the length of the sentences and how they are drawn. Your email address, so we can send you the book. That is the lot. Payment goes through Stripe and we never see your card number.
Where the photo goes
To draw the illustrations we send the photo to OpenAI in the United States, who run the image model. Their API terms say content sent this way is not used to train their models. Nothing else leaves Australia — your order, your book and your email address sit in a database in Sydney.
Cookies
One cookie, to keep you signed in. No advertising, no analytics, no third-party tracking of any kind.
Deleting everything
Open My books and choose Delete my data. Every photo, drawing and book in your account goes immediately and for good. You do not have to ask us, and we cannot undo it afterwards.
Questions and complaints
Email hello@tellstory.kids. We reply within one business day, Adelaide time. If you are unhappy with how we handled something, tell us and we will try to put it right. If we cannot, you can take a privacy complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
